Business Cards Now Including Not So Typical Information

Posted by Jason . Filed under Printing 101, Printing Tips | 1 Comment

A question that we hear all the time is “What is appropriate to put on my business card?” Nowadays people are choosing to be more creative in what they include on their business card to stand out from their competition. While it’s nice to hand out a card that is creative AND informative, the last thing you want is for it to be cluttered with unnecessary information, especially if that information can be found on your web site. Other than the standard name, job title, phone number, email address, web site etc., here are a few things that we have seen lately on business cards that have gotten a positive response:

  • Link to a Blog
  • Twitter Username
  • LinkedIn Profile
  • Picture of Yourself

We think it is important to mention that these elements should only be included if your content is what you want your customers or business colleagues to see. Social Media and blogging are taking the business world by storm right now, and implementing these components into your marketing plan can be beneficial depending on the kind of work that you do. Like we have mentioned before, your business stationery is the first impression that new contacts have of you. By including these different links, potential customers have one more way to see what your company or business has to offer and adds some personality to your company.

Also note to only list your Twitter username if you are posting relevant information to your company or field of work. Same goes for your blog. Trust us, your new client does not care to read about your crazy weekend in Miami or your thoughts on the new Harry Potter movie.

Using Custom Printed Posters and Displays as an Advertising Tool for your Business

Posted by Jason . Filed under Printing 101 | Comments Off

Displays and posters are great forms of cross promotion as well as in-store advertising. With a successful design and with high quality poster printing services they can be useful in marketing as well as in your office or place of business to help create an atmosphere. Having an office or shop setting that corresponds with your identity is a nice touch for when customers or clients come in.

PosterCustom poster printing doesn’t have to be just for upcoming events. Many businesses use posters and other forms of displays to advertise new products, special offers and deals. For your display to catch the attention of a passerby, we recommend using photos of people in your posters, not just the item or place you are advertising. Keep the color scheme consistent and relevant to your product. Remember all printed materials are a part of your identity, especially when displayed in your store. Lastly, don’t jam too much information in the space available. Customers are more likely to read your poster if they don’t have to stop and study the information. For some examples of displays that we have printed in the past check out our Facebook album More Print Samples.

It is a good idea to replace your printed displays every once and a while to keep consumers interested. Another idea would be to have several displays printed at once and rotate them periodically. At PrintHouse(45) we have many options to choose from when printing posters or displays depending on the size and materials you wish to use. Email us at estimating@printhouse45.com for a fast quote on your custom printing.

17 Standout Wedding Postcard Designs

Posted by Jason . Filed under Inspiration | 1 Comment

Recently we have worked with a few brides who were looking for an inexpensive alternative to wedding stationery that they have found in stores. When choosing stationery for your wedding every bride wants to stand out from the rest, but anyone who has been involved in planning a wedding knows that the key factor in all decision making is the budget. A common misconception is that creating custom save the dates and RSVP postcards can get to be too expensive. In reality, you can save money using a professional printer and for brides who are doing a lot themselves think of all the time and trouble you’ll save not having to print everything out yourself. Like we always say, trust the experts when it comes to printing! The last thing you want is to send out postcards announcing your special day to all your loved ones that were printed on your inkjet.

Here is a collection of fine examples that we found of wedding RSVP and Save the Date postcards for inspiration:

Are Your Business Cards Unique Enough? Print on Plastic!

Posted by Jason . Filed under Uncategorized | Comments Off

The most obvious reason to choose a plastic business card over other paper options is that plastic business cards are much more durable than other paper choices. Most business cards get stuffed into a wallet or stuck at bottom of a purse and the edges of paper business cards will inevitably get beat up. By going with plastic you don’t need to worry about this, and you also don’t need to worry about colors fading or bleeding on paper. Printing on plastic allows the colors to hold up better over time.

When you present your business card to a new colleague or potential client you want to be sure that you stand out from the rest. Even with a brilliant design most paper business cards will be forgotten along with the rest. While plastic business cards are much more common nowadays they are still a treat to come across.

Here at PrintHouse(45) we offer two options for printing plastic business cards; frosted (semi-transparent) or white (opaque). If you are interested in choosing plastic over paper but aren’t sure how to implement a successful design, contact us and our friends over at Lenker Design can create a mockup for you and your business.

What Kind of Paper Finish is Best for Your Custom Print Job?

Posted by Jason . Filed under Printing 101 | Comments Off

At PrintHouse(45), we’re all about printing your products on the best paper. In fact, we offer several different paper choices which all have their place in the printing industry. Just in case you’re not entirely familiar with these choices here are descriptions of a few paper types and their uses:

Uncoated

Uncoated paper has no finish and generally uses more ink than coated paper. This is because the ink is absorbed by the paper unlike coated paper where the ink just rests on the surface. It is also the least expensive choice and considered ideal for printing text. Uncoated paper is making a comeback in the business world where a softer and more personal paper texture is often wanted. Uncoated comes in a wide range of colors and textures so the possibilities are endless!

Linen
Linen is an uncoated paper with a textured finish that gives the look and feel of linen fabric. This paper is ideal for greeting cards, postcards, stationary, wedding invitations, announcements, and business cards. The subtle texture found on linen paper makes the product unique while adding a professional and often formal touch.

Matte

Matte paper is coated but has a flat finish unlike gloss which is highly reflective. Light rays that hit this surface scatter rather than bounce back. Matte paper gives a soft and elegant feel and appearance to a printed piece. It is often used in printing where text is the dominating element such as brochures and reports.

Gloss UV

Gloss UV paper is extremely reflective resulting in sharper graphics, higher contrast and richer colors. It is used for high quality photo printing and is an excellent choice for brochures and flyers that don’t contain a lot of text. This paper stands out in color, quality, and shine.

Silk Laminate

Silk Laminate is an ideal choice for business cards, postcards, or even menus because of its durability and distinctive texture. The texture found on this paper is very silky and smooth to the touch, heightening the appeal to potential customers. To take it to the next level, adding a spot UV coating on certain areas can really make your logo or company name pop!

If you are would like to receive printing samples to get a better idea of what our various options are please fill out the info form on our website and we will send those out in a jiffy!
